Ride to the Polls Offer
School Districts Reach Deep Into Your Pockets
Ah, the other viper rears it´s ugly head. The last time I checked, my school district was paying something around $40 thousand on each of it´s students. If you listen to the proponents of our schools, you´ll hear phrases like, "It´s for the children." Or, "We don´t want to shortchange our children´s future, do we? We must increase the budget." Well, it´s not working. Statistics prove daily that more and more parents, some painfully doing without necessities, are sending their children to private schools. When I look at the taxes I pay for education, and the return on that investment, the results are damning. But the districts rely on slight of hand, the threat of doing away with programs, etc., to get their budgets passed. Cleverly, you´ll hear things like transportation for students will be cut and we´ll cut sports programs. What? What kind of chicanery are these people trying to pull? It´s absurd.
Pandering and Smokescreens
In my Town, Greenburgh, we have a Town Board, in my opinion, that continues to act illegally. They create and change laws without the requisite hearings, change definitions without regard to the law, and while they choose to apply their upcoming Comprehensive Plan to stop projects in their own neighborhoods, they will railroad other projects through the system like a greased pig (not to pick on pigs). If it happens on the most local of levels, could it be happening at higher levels? Sure.
First, it´s very easy to play the race card, the political affiliation card etc., and just brand someone as pro big government, or help the rich and not the poor, whatever. But they always try to pit one person against the working person. It´s disingenuous. I am a working guy just like many of you out there reading this. And nobody is helping me with any stimulus. In fact, it is the exact opposite: I´m being forced to pay for the stimulus for those people who screwed up!
