When and why run for County Legislator?
This came a little over two years ago. The County purchased property in my working-class neighborhood, turned it over a couple of times, ultimately to Westhab for a homeless facility. We had been punished with this for over the last twenty-five years. Many, including myself, tried to get in contact with Lois Bronz, our County Legislator, to discuss this project, to no avail. She never got back to any of us! Then Paul Feiner met with us. Ultimately, he pushed us aside claiming he gave his word to the developer and wanted to keep his word to them. Evidently, his word to us as our representative didn´t matter. It´s this type of lack of caring for the communities that has forced me to run for office. The neighborhoods and their people must come first over special interest groups and politicians!

What needs to change in County government?
Under the failed Andy Spano administration, we´ve seen a record number of financial court settlements, tremendous increases in the size and spending of County government. There is nothing lean about Westchester County government. They have their hands so deep into our pockets, it feels like we´re in a proctologist´s office. We need to reduce the size of government, the wasteful programs it runs, eliminate the patronage and duplicate positions and at the same time increase it´s operating efficiency, decrease expenditures, and find more ways to reduce the size of government. Reducing County government will be the answer to initially holding taxes at their current level and making further cuts will lower taxes.

What is your support base and how big is it?
Once people realize they can have a unique, positive change with me, my support base will continue to increase. Or, people can vote in more typical politicians who are the problem. My opponents all come from the same cloth and pander to special interests. I have no special interests nor do I have anyone backing me financially.
What are some of your attributes?
I´m willing to put people before special interests, politicians and government officials. I have the ability to listen and examine both sides of an issue and make rational decisions that are not knee-jerk reactions to an immediate situation that can change over time. Most politicians have the knee-jerk mentality just to keep from having to take a position or committing to something that they may not be able to defend later. I will do the right thing.

Your blog (www.electtombock.blogspot.com) states that Westchester is
becoming a socialist rule. Can you explain that?
Under the failed Spano administration, we´ve seen our county government try to be the answer to every issue that is brought up, usually by special interest groups. Government has a specific role. And government should also be able to help people when necessary. The problem with our incumbents is that they want to provide cradle-to-the-grave solutions, ensuring they have a voting base that continues to need and vote for them. This has to change. It´s why we´ve got twenty-something percentage tax increases and why Westchester is the most expensive county in America!

What is your opinion of your opponents Alfreda Williams and Karin Wompa?
I´m sure they are very nice people and I wish them well. The people voted Alfreda Williams out of office because the people didn´t think she was doing a good job. Why would the people want her in a higher, more demanding office? I don´t think they will.
Karin Wompa hasn´t even completed one term in office. She has hardly had an opportunity to fulfill her public service commitment to Sleepy Hollow and she is seeking a higher office. This is disingenuous to the members of her community that trusted and elected her. It will probably scare many people away from voting for her.
I have no desire to move on or up any political ladder. I am seeking this position simply to represent people the way I want to be represented.

Do you have any closing thoughts?
I only have one agenda and that is to offer all of District 8´s resident´s real representation. I want to reduce the size of County government, ultimately reducing County taxes. Eventually, I´d like to see County government eliminated. I´m not a career politician, nor do I want to be. I want to get in, make the changes we are all desperate for and get out. As an honest, family man in a working class neighborhood, I want to see us all progress and improve. That can´t happen with the County in our way.
